The Drinking Water Inspectorate
The Drinking Water Inspectorate DWI was formed in 1990 to provide independent reassurance that water supplies in England and Wales are safe and drinking water quality is acceptable to consumers.
Protection of public health of consumers through safeguarding the quality of drinking water is a key aspect of the drinking water quality regulatory framework.
Regulation 31 ensures that the water suppliers, when producing and distributing drinking water, only use products and substances that do not cause any detrimental effects on the safety or quality of the drinking water.
The approval system is very stringent and it often takes years to achieve approval. SOME OF THE KEY ISSUES TO CONSIDER WHEN DECIDING WHICH DWI APPROVED COATING SYSTEM TO APPLY
ACOTHANE DW meets all of the following criteria
- Does it have approval under regulation 31 of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2000, for the particular substrates?
- Does it have a minimum of 35% elongation properties, allowing it to cope with the structural movement associated with water retaining structures, predominantly caused by thermal expansion and contraction?
- Does it have a successful, proven track record when used in fully submerged conditions?
- Does it have a seamless, tile like, tough impact resistant finish that will resist the growth of micro-aquatic organisms and protect against periodic cleaning regimes?
- Does it cure quickly in relatively cold conditions?
- Does it have versatile application options, such as brush, roller or spray?
- Does it come with a full technical support and assistance network available throughout the UK, to help ensure an optimum quality of surface protection, application and resultant finish is achieved?
